The difference is that voting is not publicly available, so people can’t be judged for their voting behaviours, however, down voting bots etc can still be identified and banned by their home instance admin.
That being said, I don’t like the feature, and would disable it if I could

I wear clipons, because I need prescription glasses, and having to swap from prescription glasses to prescription sunglasses back and forth multiple times a day is an ADHD recipe for losing an expensive pair of glasses.
I take my clipons off indoors though, but that’s mostly because it’s really hard to see indoors with them on :P
I get my partner to do it for me!
