Depends on the level of stress. At small to medium amounts (beyond background levels) I stop responding to texts from anyone other than my best friend and partner. At high amounts I stop thinking or doing anything and just pace or rot in bed

With gorbachev it was a turn to democratic liberal capitalism, with trump its a turn to autocratic neo-mercantalism fascism.

Nothing about Russia after the USSR is democratic, not even the dissolution. As for the US, yeah its just fascism, fits the mold quite well.

I come from a white suburban middle class background and from what I can tell the answer is no, atleast among this demographic. The main concern is not the threat of fascism but rather how Trump’s policies will affect the economy. Even here there is a certain level of denial. I hear a lot of reassurances that things will bounce back eventually. Most people simply do not get it, especially in the older generations.

You have to curate your feed yourself. Personally I use the all feed and block what I don’t like because I enjoy seeing new communities. I also recommend the jerboa app if you have an android, its free, open-source, made by lemmy devs, and doesn’t have ads.

Also many of us are communists or anarchists so prepare for political takes you aren’t used to.

Yeah I reread it and it made more sense which is why I deleted the comment. Essentially europe is going to rearm but Germany wants Russia to disarm so in exchange they will refrain from deploying US supplied medium range missiles. Essentially they are demanding diarmament under threat of a certain type of rearmament.

I wouldn’t want missiles pointed at me either but I am doubtful Russia accepts this deal

I could be weird for this but the starting over part actually contributed to me continuing to use linux tbh. Trying out a new distro, figuring out how to use it, and building a new user interface each time I killed my system kept me engaged with linux beyond its utility. It functioned essentially as a way to learn about computers and as a creative outlet. I don’t fuck around and find out as much as I used to but I still swap distro every year or so.
