perishthethought@lemm.eeto DeGoogle Yourself@lemmy.ml•Good replacement for Google Calendar?English1·11 days agoMan, I’ve read this like so many times. So… I just set it up and it’s working a treat. I installed radicale via radicale-docker, got it confogured with my user, set it up in Thunderbird and install/configured Davx5 and Fossify calendar (via F-Droid) on my android phone. <phew>
Docker for radicale (which is unofficial but they don’t offer one, so…)
https://github.com/tomsquest/docker-radicale?tab=readme-ov-fileThe only thing I might have to get used to is the sync delay with davx5. How often do you have yours setup to sync, if you don’t mind me asking?
perishthethought@lemm.eeto DeGoogle Yourself@lemmy.ml•Good replacement for Google Calendar?English2·11 days agoSame (till today) but then the only way you can access your calendar is in the Tuta apps, and then you can’t share appointments with others, invite them, and so on. Bit of a limited option, unless your calendar security/privacy is really important to you.

Noted, and thanks!
I’m in learning-mode here, so forgive me if this is a dumb question: if I have my home server connect to a VPN for all outbound traffic, would that mitigate your issue with “your single IP”. Would that make it so the IP they see is my VPN provider’s, not mine? Thanks for any info

Hauk looks interesting.

I get library books on there via WiFi/internet, or just import books from my PC via USB cable so easily. F*** Amazon.

I used the free version for about three years, till I needed a custom domain, so now I pay. Either way, I think its worth OP checking out.
perishthethought@lemm.eeto Programmer Humor@lemmy.ml•Most programmers just google it anywayEnglish5·1 month agoI would but this is totally just for me and it runs in nginx / php and I am going to guess you would just barf all over it.
But here’s a post where I asked for help on this subject, and where I got the idea to write my own app. There are a number of other ideas in there, and one really good HTML/JS app from github that does the same thing but is way better.
perishthethought@lemm.eeto Programmer Humor@lemmy.ml•Most programmers just google it anywayEnglish123·1 month agoOh! I just did this (used an AI chatbot to help me code a web app) to easily resize images.
It was a great experience and I only edited about 5% of the code it provided. I used the bot via DuckDuckGo. The app is simple, eh, but it works. Would vibe code again fer sher.

Yes, that should work, I believe, though I am no expert. I watch YT via Freetube with my VPN on most of the time, and right now too. I use Mozilla VPN if that matters and have it connected to just some other US city, but as always, YMMV.
As of March 29, Version 0.23.3 seems to have fixed things again, if anyone finds this thread now.

FreeTube is not working for me either. For now though, I can get the preview and then copy the URL for videos I really want to watch. Then I grab them with Open Video Downloader and watch it in VLC.

Oooh, neat! [Cunningham’s Law] (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ward_Cunningham#Cunningham’s_Law) in action!
This should help:
