I made a list of casual communities on Lemmy awhile ago https://lemmy.world/post/2216085 just subscribe to stuff you like and curate your own feed. Block the politics subs. Boom.
Madbrad200@sh.itjust.worksto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•How is Lobste.rs? Why did it break from HN? How does one even get in?English301·1 month agoLobsters has blocked the Brave browser since a scam in 2019. We still block it because they lie about following standards so they scrape and sell copies of websites. I’m sorry for the inconvenience, but they have previously targeted Lobsters by name and have a years-long pattern of bad behavior.
Well, that’s a new one. What you see if you visit it via Brave Browser.

Americans seem like a lost cause on that regard16·2 months agoDon’t let imperfection get in the way of progress. If you move slightly towards the left, you’re opening doors for more left ideology.

Americans seem like a lost cause on that regard713·2 months agoWithout electoral reform, there’s no functional reason to. The lesser evil of the current system is Democrats. If you want to enact change, push support for the progressive wing of the party and push for electoral reform.

Madbrad200@sh.itjust.worksto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Why is my entire feed in this Lemmy server nothing but American politics and Reddit bashingEnglish5·2 months agoLemmy is definitely rough if you’re into niche communities, true. So was Reddit in its early years though, to be fair.
Madbrad200@sh.itjust.worksto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Why is my entire feed in this Lemmy server nothing but American politics and Reddit bashing5·2 months agoThat’s not true. I’ve got a pretty active feed of subs, you just need to spend time curating a good list
Madbrad200@sh.itjust.worksto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Why is my entire feed in this Lemmy server nothing but American politics and Reddit bashingEnglish161·2 months agoJust like Reddit, you need to curate your feed. Don’t browser all/local, browse your subscriptions. Here’s a list of subs that aren’t political https://lemmy.world/post/16327122 - subscribe to ones that interest you.
Also feel free to liberally block communities. It’s trivial to do.
Yup. Reality. No point using a hyper secure chat system if literally nobody you know is using it.
It’s better if you untick “show read posts” in your lemmy settings.
