I blame the consolidation of sports titles under a limited number of developers and publishers. But maybe I just feel this way because sports games aren’t my thing.

Rocket League feels more like a sports game than simulations sports games to me.
True wisdom is realizing that most sports games are just a sub-genre of RPG.
I would rather play NBA jam on SNES than any 7/10 RPG.
