People who had some vision of ICE taking out violent criminals now see something different and they they are taking a stand against it. And it’s not happening to them, but to a single Chinese worker who they all love. That’s solidarity, even if they may not call it such. Something similar happened in NY state in the town of the border czar.
These events give me hope for the future. There is no point at all in finger-wagging at Trump voters. When the tariffs and Medicaid cuts come down, we will see many more people’s consciousness change.

But the massive demonstrations in the US and around the world helped change the consciousness of millions, which ultimately even affected the thinking of the troops fighting in Vietnam. Many times the representatives of the NLF and DRV recognized the vital role of the US antiwar movement.
Unfortunately, both the USSR and China did not do much to help Vietnam, and Nixon was able to play them off pretty well.

I can’t imagine how confronting local Zionists would do anything to help Palestine be free.

Peter Link@lemmy.mlOPto United States | News & Politics@lemmy.ml•"We warned you," Muslim voters tell Kamala Harris after she goes down in flamesEnglish1·7 months agoNo, there is no “right” choice here, if you mean something that is going to benefit Palestine and Gaza in the short term. The vast majority of those who voted against Harris knew that Trump won’t be better, but they could not go along with a candidate actively involved in genocide. Plus, they wanted to let the Democrats know that they would pay a price for their treachery. As it turned out, the pro-Palestine vote against Harris had a very clear effect in Michigan and Wisconsin, but it can’t be blamed for her defeat.
Foolish votes maybe, but not fools, if they are showing solidarity with their neighbor and coworker who happens to be undocumented. This is progress, and they will be further awakened when Trump attacks Medicaid and Medicare.
