i suspect that this is how palantir’s dragnet will be used against americans in the near future.

the difference is that the nazis actions popuarly known as abhorrant, whereas the american’s actions were seen as neutral at best.

it’s a bit like the situation in ukraine (and most other places in the global south) in that the united states fostered an uprising in hungary to separate them from their marxist/leninist regimes; russian in the hungarian and ukrainian case.

the people who pointed this out in support of the soviets sending in tanks to quell the uprising were labels as “tankies” to denigrate them and; in the jfk releases that trump did earlier this year; the cia operatives made references to these efforts in hungary and it’s clear that they forgot to redact them in trump’s haste to make good on his promise to release jfk’s dossier. (they’re retroactively redacted if you try to download them again from the american government, but their original versions are still floating around the internet).

when i say o.g. tankies, i’m using a slightly aged american pop culture reference where o.g. means “original gangster”; as in, the original tankies.

the nazis didn’t have the benefit of learning from a previous regime that their actions are abhorrent; we do.

wouldn’t it be more of the same since the new party would siphon off democratic voters for the benefit of the american oligarchy?

the jfk releases accidentally proved that the o.g. tankies were right about the soviet era hungarian workers’ uprising and i look forward to whatever they (also accidentally) allow to be released when the publicize the epstein dossier.

… not because it directly supports the conflict, but because it feared a U.S. strategic realignment against China.

my autism perpetually plagues my employment prospects and the memories of my struggles to gain employment in the few years since college makes me pitty others like me who are to do the same thing I did.

i have an unfortunate front row seat to the asshattery that our capitalist system as created for young people trying to get a foothold in my industry and i don’t know what to make of it since they, themselves support the same system that’s fucking them over and sometime virulently defend it; it’s a bit like watching maga cheer on their own demise.

I suspect that that the list of non-nazi enablers from that instance is shorter.

It makes me wonder if expecting people to read m/l theory is an unrealistic expectation.

I wonder if this is a bit like how climate scientists feel; having a very large body of evidence clearly saying that climate change is upon us, yet we choose to disregard it anyways.
